Cloud computing is storing pieces of your data among different data farms. Meaning that if one data farm goes down the bulk of your data can still be retrieved and moved if necessary. The issue with security comes in the form of access. Since there is no physical private network the data is transported using security protocols over the internet. Security concerns come in two forms from the senders end meaning that the companies security protocol could be compromised by outside intrusion or on the receiving end where there could also be possible intrusion.

While there is no such thing as absolute security the cloud proves to be far more secure then the old method companies used to rely on. Right now data transportation is secure using a private network a virtual pipe if you will from the sender to the receiver. This is currently the only way to truly secure the cloud. Even if your end is secure you should not automatically assume the companies storing your data is as secure.
