"Secure Your ID Day" is April 18

I'm in Omaha to speak tomorrow at the Infotec09 conference and I heard on the local news that "Secure Your ID Day" is April 18...

Really!? I hadn't heard about this until now. No, wait...I blogged about this last year...when it was held in September!

Is this a semi-annual event now?

Turns out many Better Business Bureaus across the U.S. are participating and hosting a variety of events on this day. Many of them are providing free on-site document shredding.

Here in Omaha folks can get their documents shredded free, as well as attend a variety of education events.

You can see a list of all the cities participating here.

Hey Iowa; why aren't your BBB offices and shredding vendors participating? Maybe because you just observed this day in September?

I'm all for providing ongoing awareness communications and events, but it's a bit confusing calling different days during the year as the same label.

Regardless, if you have an event going on this Saturday, consider checking it out!
