Bill Gates is currently leading a movement for "Creative Capitalism," the goal of which is to get organizations to do work that makes people better off in the long run. For example, some companies, such as Hallmark and Gap, sell products that they have "(RED) branded" and part of the sales profits go to fight AIDS. These companies are seeing consumers respond by purchasing these branded products to show their support for the good cause. So not only is money being raised for a good cause, but certainly the companies are also benefiting by these sales.

Yes, the concept is highlighting much bigger and more insidious problems, such as eliminating preventable deadly diseases and fighting hunger. But preserving privacy of your customers and helping prevent identity fraud and other bad things from happening to them is every bit as important to them personally as it is to do something for a larger good. Implementing privacy protections is another way to make your customers and employees better off in the long run.
